Copland's program opens with his internationally recognizable Fanfare, written during WWII as an explicitly inspiring, patriotic, morale-building work. Rodeo, Billy the Kid, and Appalachian Spring are concert suites taken from ballets of the same name and they're all signature works of American Nationalism.
