Blanco Y Negro
Label: Q-Zone Records
A.B. Quintanilla and Kumbia AllStarz's Blanco y Negro isn't so much an album as a showcase of musical personalities. Behind this door, you may find a cute, cocky guy serving up the shiny, synthy cumbia-pop Quintanilla's projects have always been known for. But open the next and you might get a mellow beach bum ("Na"), a cheesy lounge lizard with a thing for tinkling ivories ("Las Preguntas"), a dance-pop kingpin (including guest J Balvin) or, um, Elvis ("Little Mamacita," a regional "Little Sister" down to the twang). It's hard to identify it as one album, but it's certainly not boring.
