Good Vibrations (Mono Version)
Label: Capitol Records
The Beach Boys weren't always American pop icons. Before the release of this double-album compilation in 1974, they were more or less dismissed as corny relics from another era. Endless Summer, a collection of oldies, none of them released after 1965, changed all that. Going triple platinum, it reintroduced a new generation of rock and pop fans to the group's wonderful music. Unfortunately, its success didn't change the fact that no one wanted to hear the Beach Boys make new music. In fact, it only exacerbated the problem. But hey, at least they were relevant again -- sort of.
