Dirty Projectors aren't the kind to take the straight road, and the band's nomadic ways have made for some fairly idiosyncratic music. Get distracted for a second, and you'll wonder how nimble, pretty, folky guitar picks swiftly split off into Zeppelin-style riffs ("The Bride," "Useful Chamber"); how off-kilter rhythms shift into synthetic beats that wander into swinging girl-group R&B ("Stillness Is the Move"), baroque balladry ("Two Doves") and breezy '60s pop ("Remade Horizon"). Mostly, though, you'll just wonder how they end up pulling it all off. Enjoy the road less traveled? Listen up.
