The band drops its more blatant sonic experiments for an indie-pop album that still takes plenty of chances. "Hug My Soul" is an alternate-universe No. 1 smash, while the guitar-driven "Marble Lion" and "Former Lover" are dream pop that dares to dream. If the entire album were as impossibly great as those three tracks, this would be essential listening for all mankind.
