Future Women

The M's, as their debut demonstrates, started off as a home recording project amongst pals -- shaggy and loose. By the time they recorded Future Women, however, the insanely versatile power-pop outfit had tightened into a touring juggernaut -- shaggy and professional. The music still bubbles with gods of ear candy (dig all the squealing horns and strings). But the M's groove with the swagger of a seasoned live band. The rhythm section of five-string bassist Joey King and drummer Steve Versaw is particularly rocking.
